Spicy Basil Beef

Spicy Basil Beef, using Olsen Farms beef, thai basil, cilantro, white onion, fish and oyster sauces, sugar, chilies and garlic. Served over Thai jasmine rice.

This is another recipe from Quick & Easy Thai Cuisine, and another one with somewhat mysterious instructions. No indication of temperature, so I went with medium. No indication how long to cook it after you've added the sauce ingredients, so I went with about a minute - until the beef looked medium-rare. And the green onions come out of nowhere at the end of the recipe, given they aren't in the list of ingredients - so we didn't have them. But regardless, the end product was tasty. Dan said it reminded him of stir fry his Mom used to make, which I'll take as a very high compliment.

Spicy Basil Beef
2 Tbspn oil
4 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 lb sliced tender beef
1 tspn chopped Thai chilies
1/4 cup sliced white onions
1 cup fresh basil leaves
1 Tbspn oyster sauce
2 Tbspn fish sauce
1 Tbspn sugar
1/8 tspn white pepper
1/4 cup chopped cilantro

Heat pan; add oil, garlic, and chilies. Add beef and stir fry for 1 minute. Add onions and basil. Cook for 1/2 minute, adding oyster sauce, fish sauce, sugar and white pepper. Top with green onions and cilantro.
