Hawaiian Breeze Brings the Aloha to Us!

Dan & I had a few friends over for a little luau today - as a way to spend time with people we love and celebrate Hawaiian culture, and to give Dan more practice planning events as he works toward getting Aloha Mau Loa up and running.

I would normally be spending hours in the kitchen in preparation for guests, but working with caterers is key to event planning - so my work was limited to stirring up some poi and cutting some pineapple.

Junko and the great folks at Hawaiian Breeze (located on 45th in Wallingford) hooked us up with tons of Ono-licious eats including

Coconut Shrimp

Hawaiian BBQ Chicken

Vegetable Yakisoba

Kalua Pig & Cabbage

Spam Musubi

And Mac Salad and Steamed White Rice, of course!

And after we'd tried to make a dent in the heaping helpings of food, they came back and served everyone Shave Ice - freshly shaved and topped with sugary sweet syrups like (my favorite) Liliko'i (passionfruit) and Blue Curacao. More than a couple people got the idea that a Shave Ice seems like a great vehicle for booze, too - topping pineapple shave ice with Malibu rum, or just pouring some mai tai punch over the top.

Because one dessert course wasn't enough, Dan also ordered a Passionfruit flavored cake from Cakes of Paradise Bakery in Renton. We had way too much cake, but thankfully many people were happy to take home a piece or two or three for later.

And when I took a picture of the cake... a weird image appeared in the corner.

Its not a party till you clean out the open garage, scrub the floor down, hire your cousin's mobile disco and invite the neighbors for dancing after eating.

Don't worry about clean up, every lends a hand. That's the Hawaiian way...

I enjoyed your post and menu. You two are too funny.
