Live Aloha! Festival & Luau Dinner

Today we spent most of the day at the first annual Live Aloha! Festival at the Seattle Center. We got there around noon, spent the day eating and listening to music and making a lei, and then worked the information booth for 2 hours from 4 to 5pm. The event was a huge success, with far more people showing up than anyone seemed to expect. There were more people than there was space in the room for the lei making class we took, and the food vendors ran out of food - one early in the day, and another later (but was able to stock back up).

Thankfully, we grabbed lunch early, enjoying Kalua Pork, Rice, Mac Salad and a Tropical Ice Tea from Pac Island Gril.

Later on, we treated ourselves to some really great shave ice (known on the mainland as sno-cones). I went with a mix of Lilikoi (passion fruit) and Li Hing Mui (salty dried plum).

After our shift at the info booth, we decided to keep the Aloha alive and go to Luau Polynesian Lounge for dinner, up in Greenlake. I got the Kalua Pork Sandwich ($9.99). You can't eat enough Kalua Pork in one day, I guess.

Dan enjoyed the Sausage Fried Rice ($12.98) - or more accurately, about a third of it, since the portion is enormous!

My entree came with Shrimp Mac Salad, of course, and I washed it down with my usual Pina Colada.
