Pickles - My first attempt



We had a bumper crop of cucumbers in our garden, so I decided to try to make some pickles. I combined information from several recipes, and I think I ended up making pickles that will be freakishly spicy... but we'll find out when we open the jars, I guess. Mostly, it just felt good to try canning something. I feel like preservation disappeared in America due to the move toward preservative laden, packaged convenience foods - and I'm glad there are people out there trying to revive the arts of curing, pickling, fermenting, drying, smoking, salting, canning, and otherwise preserving foods.
