Luau Polynesian Lounge

Long before I was playing around in the kitchen with rose water spheres and chicken consomme, and before I even made it out of bed, Dan got up and drove into work to spend a long day making sure an event he's been planning went off without a hitch. He had coffee service to pick up and set up, lunch to ensure was ready on time, documents to PDF and get uploaded to a web site for easy access, and what seemed like a ton of other little things to check & double-check to ensure all the guests - some of whom were visiting from Europe and Asia - were well taken care of and had everything they needed. And thanks to his stellar organizational skills and unending discipline, the event was very successful and he received thanks from guests and organizers alike.

To celebrate, we headed to one of our favorite restaurants - Luau Polynesian Lounge in Greenwood. We caught the last half-hour of happy-hour, so were able to get a round of $5 drinks - a Kaha Mai Tai for Dan, and a Classic Pina Colada for me.

And for dinner, we both enjoyed items that were taken off the menu for awhile, but are thankfully back. Dan went for the Kon Tiki Fried Chicken ($13.99), and I enjoyed the Spicy Ahi Poke ($9.99) and Pulled Pork Sliders ($5). We both enjoyed our food very much, though I have to comment that the Poke wasn't really a poke, given that the ahi tuna wasn't cut into cubes. It was in strips, laid over the top of a tower of furikake rice, and cucumber/red pepper mixture. It was delicious - but not how that dish used to be presented. As always, the service was wonderful and friendly.
