For our breakfasts this week, I made muffins using poi (mashed taro root) and shredded coconut. I was hoping they'd be purple, from the poi, but the molasses I used to sweeten them overpowered the color of the poi. But they still taste great.
an unpretentious foodie with a love of trying new recipes and new ingredients - from ants eaten live to braised goat, hawaiian mac salad to naan with daal, okinawan sweet potato pie to my Mom's classic zucchini bread. I enjoy a multi course meal at a hot new spot as much as the comfort and familiarity of a chain restaurant. But most of all, I love making beautiful food that tastes good, trying new techniques and learning the science of food in the process.
And I don't turn my nose up at a good cocktail, either.
