Luau and Goodbyes

For dinner tonight, we treated ourselves to Luau Polynesian Lounge, choosing one of our regular booths (the one with the naked lady, rather than the Elvis booth).

Dan got the fried chicken, which I couldn't resist taking a bite or two of.

I got the huli huli chicken club.

Afterwards, we headed to Capitol Hill to a going away party for two friends we made through Dan's work.

The party was at the house where I met them - the home of a professor who has people housesit when his family travels - and the kitchen is filled with plates featuring their kids artwork. Dozens of them. Some are very abstract, some more representative, but most of them have titles like 'Monster' and 'Blueberry field with people'. They make quite a conversation piece.

Our friends are off to Berkley & Maine, and we're going to miss them. Although we didn't get the chance to see them socially all that often, it was always a treat when we did. They both exude a relaxed, positive energy and Dan & I always felt so at ease, engaged, and happy when we spent time together. Hopefully they'll visit soon.
