Verve Wine Bar

On the way to Paula's Birthday bash, we stopped for a little liquid courage at Verve Wine Bar in Columbia City. It turns out they were celebrating a birthday as well: three years!

Our friendly server, Dan (no relation) poured us a flight of sparkling wines, which seemed an appropriate way to pre-funk, given Paula's love of the bubbles. It included a Lucien Albrecht Rose, a Chardonnay/Pinot mix by Altas Cumbres, and a Jaillance Semillon, Bordeaux.

Our unanimous favorite was the first - though Dan & I hold Lucien Albrecht wines sacred, given that we shared a bottle from that winery on our first anniversary, and go back to them often.

We also had a little snack while there, enjoying the Chicken Liver Pate ($8), which was topped with pistachios and port aspic, and served with grilled bread. It was very good, and looking over the menu we're eager to return for a burger and red wine, and for brunch and mimosas!
