A Sweet Breakfast, a Birthday BBQ, and a E.S. Fix

We intended to have this for dessert on the 4th, but were too full from yam fries and burgers. So I made it our Sunday breakfast.

Dan bought some plums (or maybe apriums?), some strawberries, some lite cool whip, and some mini angelfood cakes at the store. I sliced the cakes into three layers, chopped up and cooked down the plums with some brown sugar, and sliced the strawberries. I topped the bottom cake layer with some whip, some plums, and some strawberries, then repeated.

This afternoon we enjoyed potato salad, veggie dogs, funyuns, chips, guac, nutty bars, drinks, Jäger shots, and other assorted goodies at Jayson & Jason's place, to celebrate Jayson's 30th Birthday. It was great to see a lot of people we hadn't connected with since we got back from Hawai'i, and some we hadn't seen in even longer. Plus, I met this awesome couple and talked most of the party about food and Hawai'i and stuff. She's a nutritionist who grew up on Oahu. We talked spam and li hing mui and other regional stuff, as well as food politics... in fact, he recommended a book by that name, which I'm going to read soon.

After the BBQ Birthday Bash, we jetted South to El Sombrero for some dinner, and didn't have the camera (OF COURSE!). After I finished half of my seafood chimichanga, the waitress inquired where my tupperware was. It feels good to be a regular.
