Frugal Fridays: Now with 4 Active Probiotic Cultures!

On the heels of last week's grocery store lunch, this week I headed to a similar establishment, but one I normally wouldn't expect to find lunch - let alone a relatively healthy one for under five bucks: Bartell Drugs.

All the other Bartell Drug stores I've visited around Seattle and the surrounding areas (and with my medical history, there have been a lot) have had a pretty limited food selection consisting of mostly canned and frozen foods, and sugary snacks. But the one at 4th and Madison in Downtown Seattle actually includes a small pseudo-deli food mart, with some fruit, refrigerator cases, and a pretty decent selection.

After perusing the shelves and cases, I opted for a 'Don Miguel' brand chicken, green chilies & cheese burrito ($1.99), a 6oz container of Northwest Raspberry Darigold low fat yogurt ($0.89), and a Granny Smith apple ($0.75), for a total of $3.63.

It's not somewhere I'd normally think to go for lunch, but I'm glad I did.

(Frugal Fridays is a weekly series dedicated to finding Seattle lunch spots where you can walk in with a $5 bill and walk out with a fulfilling, preferably healthy, lunch. If you have suggestions of places in the Seattle area with a great lunch for under $5 after tax, post a comment - I'd love the help.)
