Today, I put hundreds of items from our house that we just don't need any more out on the sidewalk and posted a huge sign that said 'Everything's Free Yard Sale'. From producing plays and doing costume parties, as well as just living comfortably, we'd accumulated tons of clothes and shoes and assorted props and things that we just hadn't used. We actually had an entire box of shoes we hadn't even looked in since we moved into our house... and it was the largest size box the moving store had. Dozens and dozens of pairs of shoes. I had thought about trying to sell some of the more valuable stuff, but ended up realizing it wouldn't be worth the effort. So everything was set out for free.
Among the happy recipients of some of the free stuff were our neighbors Jonathan & Susan, their daughters Eleanore and Katie, and their friends visiting this weekend. As a thank you for the free stuff, they brought over a plate of home made cookies for Dan & I, which were rich with molasses and very delicious.
