I Judged You Unfairly, Los Tinos
About a year ago, the closest Mexican restaurant to our house (just a few blocks away, actually) switched hands. Unfortunately, we didn't realize that and Dan headed over to get some take-out one evening, with me trying to order based on the menu online. The new owners didn't have that item on the menu, so improvised - and the result (by the time it made it back to our house) was really disappointing. We ended up not returning until today.
It turns out Los Tinos (the new name of the place) does a great job - when you actually order off of their menu. And not being run by Seventh Day Adventists, they're open 7 days a week and serve beer & liquor.
They even have margarita specials on Saturdays (though we stuck with some Pacifico's today, which were served in frosty mugs with salted rims and lime!).
I ended up going for some Tacos Al Carbon (a favorite of mine since the days of Jalisco's on Capitol Hill). Today I went for chicken, though they offer steak as well.
The tacos were good, and had that smokiness that I love about the Al Carbon method (cooking over charcoal). They were served with beans and rice and lettuce, tomato & guacamole.
Dan went for a simple chicken quesadilla.
The service was excellent and the food was good - and we can't really beat the location - so we'll surely be back again sooner this time. I'm eager to give their margaritas a try!
